There is no blueprint for autoimmune disease

Read that line again. There is no blueprint for autoimmune disease. As much as we would like to pigeon-hole this diagnosis, we can't. Every day is different. Pains, aches, moods, bodily functions; every day is different. Most modern medicine physicians don't understand autoimmune symptoms, except to refer you to the correct specialist. Modern medicine itself doesn't understand autoimmune either. This is where proper diet, exercise and natural medicine kick in. Most symptoms and issues associated with autoimmune can be remedied or reduced by diet. And I don't mean cut the carbs or sugar diet; I'm referring to a balanced diet with supplements and vitamins added in. Autoimmune can also be calmed by improving our mindset. Mental health is a huge part of autoimmune symptoms. Even on those tough days, maintaining a positive attitude helps us work through.

So here are some tips to make living with an autoimmune disease a little easier:
  •  Proiotics. I'm sure you've heard this a million times before me, but daily probiotics to improve your gut health are essential. 10 billion LIVE culture probiotics should be taken daily. -Dental Health. Your teeth carry so much bacteria, doing a coconut oil pull one a day with regular dental hygiene will keep that bacteria in check. And remember to brush, floss and rinse two times a day.
  • Diet. Almost every autoimmune responds best to a diet that's organic, high in fiber, protein and omegas. Cut the sugar and the salt too. Gluten free makes a difference, even for those that can tolerate gluten.
  • Water. Water. Water. Water. It's essential. If you have to add flavored packets because you can't drink it plain, that's fine. Just make sure you watch the sugar and artificial sweetners.
  • Herbs like turmeric are helpful for joints, as it will help with inflammation on top of being great for the immune system.
  • Vitamins B, C & D -Essential oils. Lavender, Frankincense, Cinnamon, Ylang Ylang all help with calmness -Meditation or Relaxation. Simply sitting still for 15 minutes and not thinking can have incredible healing properties.
  • Hormones. Laugh, sing, Exercise. Do something that releases endorphins (the happy hormone) into your brain.
  • Reduce Stress. I know, easier said than done. Life is tough, there are stressors every where. Part of healing an autoimmune is knowing what stressors to give energy to and which ones not to give energy to.

In my opinion, chronic stress is probably the biggest to blame for autoimmune and other serious diseases. When we are under a constant state of stress, our bodies are not able to recharge. The blood cells that are our 'fighters' don't have time to regenerate as they are always in fight mode. Eating a balanced diet and exercising, taking supplements and meditating sometimes aren't enough when the body is in fight mode. It's difficult to pull away from the stressors, and takes us out of our comfort zone, but it's ultimately the only thing that's going to help you get better. Understandably, this is not easy, but in the long run, it may be the only option. Putting all these pieces together into a plan that works for you takes time. But you are worth it.

So put on some music, sign and dance to it. Make a nice grilled chicken salad with dark greens for dinner. Do some yoga and relax. Tomorrow is a new day and you're going to rock it.
